ARTIST STATEMENT
“Sometimes things are too big to unfold. Some hours have been more pain than pleasure. Others have shaped us quietly along the way.
From the very beginning, we wanted to create an armchair that was not just an armchair, but our armchair. The one we had carried within us long before it had form. Yet translating what we saw internally onto paper proved harder than expected. We tried again and again. We failed again and again. Drawings were discarded, some embarrassingly so. We argued. We gave up. We returned.
Perhaps now is the time.
This is the closest we have come to revealing what we instinctively feel are strong forms. We call it DEUS. It stands quite far from the other pieces in the collection that share its name. Yet somehow they belong together. In physical space. In our minds. In our hearts. We are drawn to it almost unwillingly. It exposes something in us that is not polished. It is brutally honest. Unfiltered. This is us.”
