2023 | HERO FLOOR LIGHT | HERO LIGHT REPRESENTS THE CORE OF STUDIO ROMELLS PRACTICE. AS THE STUDIOS FIRST AND FOUNDATIONAL WORK, IT ENCAPSULATES A DESIGN LANGUAGE ROOTED IN NARRATIVE, STRUCTURAL CLARITY, AND ARCHITECTURAL INTENT.
THE OBJECT BALANCES SIMPLICITY WITH MONUMENTAL PRESENCE, DISTINGUISHING IT FROM A PURELY BRUTALIST EXPRESSION. ENGINEERING AND FORM ARE HELD IN EQUILIBRIUM, RESULTING IN A PIECE THAT ASSERTS ITSELF QUIETLY WITHIN A SPACE.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Hero Light was our first creation, together with Deus Table Lamp, and in many ways it became a point of orientation for everything that followed. When we designed it, we were not interested in complexity for its own sake, but in clarity. We wanted to create an object with a strong narrative and a simple objective, one that could carry presence without relying on excess.
Our ambition has always been to create objects that endure, not only physically, but emotionally within a room. Hero Light was conceived with that longevity in mind. It is meant to remain, to age with its surroundings, and to hold its place over time rather than respond to passing trends.
The name Hero comes from the idea that humans need something to believe in beyond what is immediately visible. Not as a figure, but as a principle. For us, Hero Light became a quiet symbol of that belief, an object that stands with confidence and restraint, offering a sense of grounding, direction, and continuity within a space.
