AT THE HEART OF THIS MIRROR LIES THE ICONIC STONE GOAL, WHERE THE BALL’S PASSAGE THROUGH THE RING COULD MARK TRIUMPH, LOSS, OR EVEN FATE.
ARTIST STATEMENT
More than just an architectural element, the goal represented a threshold: an emotional and symbolic climax of the game Pok-ta-pok. The mirror captures that charged moment, when the ball hovers between earth and sky, between players’ intention and destiny. The form draws on the weight of that suspense, the anticipation that defined victory, and the emotional resonance of a bounce that could shift lives.
A contemporary reflection of ancient ritual, the ofrenda mirror invites us to consider what we frame, what we remember, and what meaning we assign to thresholds in our own lives.
