ARTIST STATEMENT
This edition of the Ofrenda Mirror is an evolution of the original work in bronze. While the form remains altar-like and symbolic, the change in material alters its emotional register. Steel carries a different weight, both physically and metaphorically. It is harder, colder, and more exacting, yet capable of reflection and endurance.
The mirror remains an offering, but one forged through a different language. Where bronze suggested warmth and tradition, steel introduces restraint and tension. The contrast between material and spirit becomes more pronounced, allowing the object to exist simultaneously as a ritual form and an industrial presence.
In this way, the Ofrenda Mirror continues its exploration of offering, not as a fixed gesture, but as something that can be reinterpreted through material, time, and intent.
